Perception
Solo works for violin performed on mandolinThe vast repertoire of the violin can be smoothly and successfully performed on the mandolin because of its similar tuning. The result is capturing and surprising: the mandolin provides warmth, richness and a nostalgic flavor to this music. Jacob Reuven who is known for his virtuosic and precise interpretations of violin music both with orchestra and solo, presents a memorable experience in this recital dedicated to the solo violin music of Bach, Ysaÿe and Paganini.
Vivaldolino
Vivaldi's masterpieces for the mandolinJacob Reuven masters the mandolin repertoire of Antonio Vivaldi passionate works expressing Vivaldi's exceptional writing of virtuoso intense music, tender delicate movements and surprising passages which have become his identifying mark.
The Hebrew Mandolin
The mandolin is a central instrument in Israeli folk music and song. Jacob Reuven has initiated a project that incorporates rearrangements of Israeli songs for the mandolin and a symphonic orchestra. The concert includes also contemporary Israeli music for mandolin and strings.

Ensemble Maktub
The belief, shared by Jacob Reuven and other musicians, that music can bridge different cultures and religions, particularly in the complicated situation in Israel, was one of the foundation stones upon which Maktub Ensemble was formed. The ensemble was founded in 2000 aimed at the performance of Classical Arabic repertoire, virtuoso masterpieces of Turkish and Egyptian origins and more. Its members are leading Jewish and Arab musicians and the concerts provide a real classical Arabic experience, thus introducing to the audience repertoire rarely performed.
Solo and Orchestra
Jacob Reuven is in demand by Israeli orchestras for the performance of varied repertoire for orchestra and mandolin as well as works for the orchestra and violin. His repertoire list includes: Sarasate – Zigeunerweisen Gypsy Airs – Op. 20 No. 1 Bloch – Baal Shem, "3 pictures of Hassidic life" H.Wieniawski – Legende Op.17, for violin Saint-Saens – Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso for Violin and Orchestra J.N. Hummel – Concerto for Mandolin in G Hoffman – Concerto for Mandolin in D
Sources
Background music? Most definitely not! “Sources”, a new disc of music performed on mandolin and mandola by Israeli artists Jacob Reuven and Alon Sariel, recorded at the Jerusalem Music Centre October 2009, will involve the listener from beginning to end and on various levels. The two artists, equally at home in both oriental- and western music, have chosen to play European works of three centuries, none originally written for plucked instruments. Take, for example, J.S.Bach’s Two-Part Inventions, five of which are performed here, pleasing in their individual entities and in the differences between them, are certainly not a far cry from how they would sound on harpsichord or clavichord.
